Buzzing for all bees…

Bees, and not just honeybees, but also native bees are responsible for every third bite on our plates. This ratio is higher for vegetarians and people who just love to eat fresh produce with every meal (that’s me)!

At least 70% of all produce exists because bees were there cross pollinating when it was a flower!  70% percent! The remaining produce is pollinated by the wind, and trust me when I say this, you wouldn’t want to live on these alone…or maybe you love eating only corn or starchy foods?

There are nearly 4000 species of native bees we don’t even hear about, and if honey bees are in trouble, so are native bees.  Continue to follow this blog to learn about all of these fascinating species that go about living right under our noses.

I love all of the foods on this list, and without bees we wouldn’t have these delicious foods! Imagine a world without them; it’s terrifying to me, as a hopeless foodie. This list is not complete, I am certain there are more.  Feel free to reply to add more to the list.  I hope seeing some of your favorites encourages you to join the movement and waggle with us in an effort to help save the bee populations!  Knowledge is power and it is up to us to inform everyone around us to bring a positive change for our future!
